Questions
How Many Opioid Pills are Dispensed in my County?
Proven correlations exist between levels of prescription opioid analgesic (POA) prescribing and overdose deaths, POA-related misuse, and key harm outcomes such as admission to the Emergency Department or admission to the hospital for treatment.
What Demographic Trends Exist Related to Overdose Deaths and Overdose ED Visits in my County?
Certain demographic groups have a disproportionately high frequency of drug overdose deaths. Additionally, overdose frequency and substance use disorder treatment characteristics vary by demographic group. A single model for overdose response and prevention will likely not achieve equitable outcomes and progress across demographic groups.
What is the Demographic Profile (Race and Ethnicity, Employment, Poverty, Education) of My County?
The prevalence of substance use varies widely among different demographic groups. For example, certain demographic groups in Michigan have a disproportionately higher frequency of drug overdose deaths. American Indian, Black, and Hispanic Michigan residents have disproportionately higher drug overdose mortality rates than white residents.
How Many Pharmacies Participate in the Naloxone Standing Order in my County?
The availability of naloxone, an opioid antagonist that rapidly reverses the effects of an opioid medication, is a first line of defense in countering the incidence of opioid-related overdose deaths.
